Hi there – I’m Vicky. I’m a mum of one and I work part-time as a town planner. I’ve been writing this blog on and off for a while now and am still very much finding my way round the process, layout etc and experimenting with different themes and menus – so bear with me if things keep changing.
I started this blog when we took on an allotment a few years ago and I planned to share progress on our food growing efforts. After initial enthusiasm, it didn’t take long for us to realise that tending an allotment on the other side of town with a small child in tow was just not going to happen, particularly not in a weed free photogenic kind of way! Now my dad tends the allotment, and we grow what veg we can in our back garden between football training and forage for fruit along the nearby brook (and back at the allotment when the plum trees are in fruit).
Since then the blog has evolved a bit – the “allotmentrecipes” web address is no longer perhaps the most relevant, although I still enjoy sharing recipes using our homegrown and foraged supplies. I now also enjoy writing about energy saving and waste reduction, particularly reducing plastic waste. I have been an active member of the Zero Waste Heroes community on Facebook, and for the last few years part of the admin team for the large Facebook Group Journey to Zero Waste UK. I am also part of the Zero Waste Bloggers Network
This blog is a place for me to write about things I enjoy, things that interest me and that I hope may also interest other people out there, and to hopefully improve my writing skills in the process. So – it’s about both learning, and sharing. It is also very much also about finding a way of connecting with people out there that share some of my interests.
